Welcome to Youth Progress Association
"Rather than selecting lower risk
youth, who can be easier to supervise and produce positive outcomes
with, YPA has regularly sought programming and services that will meet
the needs of our higher risk youth."
-Paul Egbert, Oregon Youth Authority
Youth
Progress Association (YPA) is a non-profit, independent living
organization that has been providing Oregon's youth with the skills
necessary to become successful community members since 1964. Our
clients range in age from 15 to 24, have diverse backgrounds, and come
from all over the State. The majority of our clients has either been
involved in the juvenile justice system or has no appropriate home
resource with whom to live. Youth Progress clients are often labeled as
"difficult to treat" and have typically been rejected from other
placements due to behaviors or background. Youth Progress specializes
in working with these youth by providing them with individualized
opportunities to succeed. Youth Progress Association provides
opportunities to approximately 80 Oregon youth each year.
YPA has a number of
programs and in-house resources that address each client's needs and
help build upon his or her strengths. The clients of YPA have access to
independent living skills education, employability education, job
searching and maintenance assistance, mental health counseling, drug
and alcohol recovery services, GED and high school diploma education,
college readiness training, vocational planning, strength-based
activities, and case management services. All YPA's programs and
services are structured to help our clients prepare for and achieve a
successful transition into the community and into a healthy and
productive lifestyle."
